State Deputy's Message

April 2024

Convention and End-of-Year Wrap up

Brother Knights,

Thank you all so much for your support and attendance during the 103rd South Carolina State Convention! We have received so many comments of appreciation for everything from the format to the experience. We could not have pulled off this event without so much help from Council members throughout the state. So, on behalf of the State Officers and Convention committee, thank you for everything you and your Council did in support of us this year!

To cap off an outstanding weekend of Faith and Fraternity, we received notification that as of April 5, 2024, South Carolina has once again surpassed the growth required to be recognized in the Supreme Knight’s Circle of Honor. This marks the fourth consecutive year we have reached this milestone. And we are not finished yet! The Supreme Knight personally challenged all of us to invite one more man to become a Knight before June 30th. He also challenged our Councils to schedule one more recruiting drive. Due to the engagement of so many Councils, I was able to report to Supreme that we have plenty scheduled and will continue to be a part of the greatest year of growth the Order has ever experienced!

The final quarter of a Fraternal Year is an exciting time. We recognize Knights and Families in our Council for their hard work this past year. We elect new leaders to further our Councils in Faith and Charity. But our jobs as leaders are not yet over. We need to make sure we are setting these new leaders up for success. Now is the time to dot the I’s and cross the T’s. Submit your SP-7 Forms now. This allows Supreme to reach out if it is incomplete or needs updating. Ensure your Council is safe-environment compliant. Look at any reports that may be overdue and get them submitted; this includes semi-annual audits, FBE’s, 185’s, 365’s, and 1728’s. Lastly, if you are only a couple members away from the McGivney Award, do not forget to scrub your prospect list. Your District Deputies and State Team stand ready to help your Council receive the recognition it deserves! I will be sending some communications to aid you in this very soon.

Finally, many of our Parishes have been planning Eucharistic Processions for many months. Please reach out to your Pastors and see how your Knights can assist. If nothing else, encourage your brothers to participate. Our Fourth Degree Assemblies gathered on April 13, and received instructions and offered enthusiastic support for this effort. They will be offering their services wherever possible.Allow them to support you and let them lead your Councils and Parishes in the spirit of Blessed Michael McGivney!

I pray for continued success in all your programs, activities, and efforts. Please reach out to your District Deputy for any assistance. Remember this weekend, to spend an extra five minutes in prayer, and to ask a man to become a Knight. If done in the right order, there is no stopping us!

Semper Fidelis!
