During October and November, members of Knights of Columbus Council 6884 (Seneca) presented checks to 22 local schools in Oconee, Pickens and Anderson Counties for special needs teachers to enrich and enhance the learning experience for the students in these classrooms. The Knights also presented checks to 2 private organizations, the Tribble Center and Wild Hearts Equine Center, which provide life skills education to young adults and rehabilitation for challenged individuals. These checks totaled over $22,000 and represented the proceeds from the Columbus HOPE Campaign that took place during the last fiscal year. Over the past 28 years, the HOPE Campaign has provided more than $720,000 to local schools and local organizations that benefit youth and young adults with mental and physical challenges. This Friday and Saturday, volunteers, and cadets from JROTC and Knights will once again be at the doors of the Seneca Walmart to pass out free "Tootsie Rolls" and receive donations for the Columbus HOPE Campaign. Frank Kler, Chair for HOPE at Council 6884, wants everyone to enjoy the free candy and to support this worthy charity that returns so much benefit to our community.
